- READING FOR WINTER DAYS!
Unitarian Universalists are known to be lovers of books and reading, and winter’s colder and shorter days invite us to get in a warm place – and read!
For great things to read our UUA is a boundless resource! Indeed, we proudly operate two publishing houses – Beacon Press and Skinner House Books – and a UUA Bookstore.
An online browse through the web sites for each of these sources is a feast of an experience!
The Beacon Press site (beacon.org) has special links for reading groups and UUs. Here you’ll find discussion guides, resources and more.
Beacon Press recently celebrated its 150th birthday and last year announced that it had been chosen by the King estate to compile and publish Dr. Martin Luther King’ writings. First editions of these were just released.
Skinner House’s meditation manuals are jewels! Its mission is about “publishing books to aid individuals and congregations in their search for truth and meaning.” Recent publications include The Whole World Kin, A People So Bold, Singing Meditation, and The Growing Church. See them all at uua.org/publications/skinnerhouse.
Any and all of these publications – and more! – can be found any day at the online UUA Bookstore: uuabookstore.org.
Happy winter reading!
