On Saturday, March 27, 2010 UUCH will take an important step toward our future.  As we consider moving to a new facility, it is important that we create a clear vision of the future direction of the congregation.  Who are we?  What makes us unique among all other local congregations?  What will we be spiritually and emotionally in the next 5 years?  The answers to these questions are a “Vision Statement.”  We also want to develop a “Mission Statement” that supports the vision of

“Searching For The Future” Brings New Proposed Vision and Mission Statements for UUCH

Last weekend, the Searching for the Future focus group process successfully resulted in a new proposed Vision Statement and Mission Statement for UUCH.  Guided by our UUA consultant, Larry Wheeler, eighty members and friends of our church met on Saturday to go through a process that helps congregations develop a shared vision statement, a specific mission, and begin a list of supportive goals, activities, and objectives that will assist in the development of a Strategic Plan.  There were wonderful and heart-felt discussions that led each focus group to

Proposed Vision And Mission
Purpose and Process (What’s next?)

Ladies and Gentlemen, rev up your voting dots!

That’s right, folks, it’s a new opportunity to vote on what’s important to you!  As part of our Searching for the Future process, involving almost 80 folks on a beautiful Spring weekend, we highlighted what is important to us about the church and our community together–what our dreams and hopes are for the future.  Each small group (six to eight people) developed a draft vision and mission statement, which resulted in the proposed Vision and Mission statements discussed elsewhere in this newsletter.

Proposed Vision and Mission:
Purpose and Process

A few weekends back, almost 80 people worked together to draft Vision and Mission statements for UUCH.  Many of us who’ve participated in such exercises before, at UUCH or in work or community settings, admittedly approached this activity with a bit of dread! Experience taught us to expect lengthy, drawn-out discussions and endless wordsmithing, resulting in a lengthy statement that, in a few months, no one could find or remember.  Luckily for us, our experiences thus far with Larry Wheeler convinced us to believe him when he promised that this event would be different.  (As

UUCH Youth Participate
in our Search for the Future

As one of the facilitators for the youth session of the “Searching for the Future” weekend, I had the opportunity to hear first-hand the wonderful things that our young people envision for our church’s future. Thirteen middle-and high-school youth spent more than three hours in conversation about their favorite parts of our community, and what they think we will need over the next five years. As a facilitator, my task was to help their voices be heard.

They described in their own words what they enjoy about UUCH: bonding with friends, getting to be yourself, helping
